Village Green Machine
Village Green Machine
Hello, how extremely nice of you to drop by, even if part of you is dropping off. Wait till you get to your late 20's like me, and it will. What has dropped off is, my resolve to fit with the petty expectations of suburban society, and, well the other thing I won't talk about. Except to say, if you find it, look after it, it could be worth a lot of money one day.
Village Green Machine news, well, I'm recording a new snare beat mixing it into the song Plastic Soul discretely making an r&b 60s sounding brew its great Syd meets Weller in Tamla beat land and hey we've struggled with this track but the central passion is there and I have to tell you I didn't come into the game to sound like anyone else and this record is becoming a repository of my will to be great and the way things go it will be great I told you so I'm an average human being with an overblown dream but like glass blown into shape my dream shall fill the balloon blown full and as the poet says somebody has to stand naked sometimes who puts their ass on the line? Me, artists such as myself. Plastic Soul will arrive metamorphosise and self realise I was aiming high and guess what that's where its going I see it happening and this will be on Village Green Machine LP no 2. And ps I am still struggling with the damn thing, its a big job but it is amazing even to me, to see a new recording evolve as so much goes into production stages, and the whole recording can become radically different as this process carries on. The drums were a mess on this song, but I can remove half of them and simply not have any drums- and this is an r&b record, but it works.
So yeah we worked on the final touches to this difficult recording and now I'm producing it, it will be a masterpiece, through self fulfilling prophecy. I promise. I mean, technically, no. But it is a highly experimental record, and somewhere down the line I began to believe in it, and it keeps getting better, growing towards a certain high point, peak, I mean look somebody has got to be good. Hands up, I step forward with this maybe immodest intent. I intend to be good. I do my best, beyond that it is in the lap of the gods. We also sorted some overdubs on the to be discarded Brilliant Records, due for the second album. Its Lou in the basement, oh look its inappropriate to sell myself. I will never do it again. It caused me sore wrists last time, and I've been banned from the back of Rackhams under a court order. So no more selling myself. but I will say, we listened to Brilliant Records, the song, again recently and I decided I liked it after all, and we've been working on it and I'm sure it will be on the second Village Green Machine album. So, tidying up recordings made a while ago.
Great that a load of you have downloaded Chain Store as a complimentary download. I'd like you to pass them around, we will be offering more. Soon and on-goingly. More downloads but as I've said the price is 2 minutes 20 of your soul, a ha ha ha ha.......
So I'm sat here in my shades at 2.23,
Looking at a beer,
A northern soul compilation on CD,
Is threatening to bend my ear
But the neighbours next door would not tolerate me
Making a beautiful noise
So I'll sit here and write with my bottle of beer,
And cuddle up with my sex toys.
What do you reckon?
Yes, I am entering this one for Poetry Monthly, a parish magazine run by spinsters , for librarians, it says. Do you think I'm in with a chance of publication?
Do you know, I used to be a music writer. For a newspaper. But now I have decided to go into Film Review work. Recently I acquired some DVDs starring Michael Caine. I will now show you my review, which I will submit to the Arts correspondent of a national broadsheet newspaper. I would like to know your opinion on this following article, as I am not terribly confident yet, but I hope this isn't too bad. Here is the article I have submitted;
The Fourth Protocol, starring Michael Caine
Right, what it is right, there was this geezer, what had a uniform on, it was Pierce Broznane. Anyway this geezer, right, he had this bird on the bed, and he gave her one right, then he done her in. There was these black cars, it was done in Russia, they looked like a pair of bleeding hearses which weren't so far off, being as the bloke done the woman. But she weren't no angel, as she was a bomb maker, right, and she was going to do him in anyway. They was all wearing a load of uniforms, well the Russian geezers was anyway, and anyway they was at a party, and the Michael Caine bloke done the safe in a posh flat, but no one heard it explode cos it was new years eve. But then it all starts getting complicated... and Michael Caine punches a couple of skinheads on a train, and Peirce Brazdend right, he, don't know if you might have to edit this bit, mate, but he meets this other man in a bog and, no I can't say it. Anyhow then, I can't remember a load of it, but Peers gets blown off, sorry up, at the end.
What do you reckon? Come back next week for another of my film reviews. I will let you know if The Guardian or The Independent publish this, I am going to send it to at least one of them and I won't take no for an answer.
Ok well, do you know, I used to be serious all the time but I have become quite crazy these days. Its the next day now after all you've just read. I go on Facebook a lot, I have just been talking to a 60s US singer who had a massive number 1 record. And how come lots of people are downloading Chain Store, when the free downloads we did before were only downloaded by a handful of people, I don't know. Anyway here is a link to download this new recording Chain Store
. Download now then listen while you read on... well, it is about my time working at a Chain Store. C&A's. There were 3 tables, one for the run of the mill workers, which was most of us. One for the cleaners, the lowerarchy. And one for the bosses, management, merchandisers. They were a funny lot. This huge lady called Miss Allen, who terrified young shop girls beneath her, used to walk into the canteen every day carrying, on a tray, an imperious silver tea pot, which gave the impression of a Queen Victoria sort of person, terribly stately and dignified. She spoke with a broad cockney accent, weighed 20 stones, and had charisma. and woe betide anyone who really crossed her path. She was the queen of C&A. She gave me the job at C&A, later telling me that her heart had ruled her head when she offered it to me. It is too terrible, but I was forced to work there. I was in a cult. It is a long time ago, but the distress of those times, floods me as I write. But, mostly I feel nothing about those days because I never think about it or talk. You know, there is a lot of dodgy stuff out there, new age stuff. Anyhow, Chain Store is about my time working on Oxford Street at that shop. I can't talk about why I had to work there, but I had cracked up because of the cult, and I was told I had to get a job and that is where I ended up. For a few horrible months. Still, I got out. New age is synonymous with pound and dollar signs, you know. And if anyone owns a lot of expensive cars and claims to offer spiritual teaching, get out quick x
I was going to bang on about The Animals, but I'm scarcely in the mood now. I will be sending my film review off to a top British newspaper though, and if there is a response I will let you know. Enjoy the track. Support Village Green Machine with some download purchases available from ITunes etc or buy a CD:-)
